Jared is a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis in sociology. His research uses computational techniques to uncover patterns of behavior that are otherwise unseen. From the networks of prohibition gangsters and politicians to bias hidden in the text of academic recruitment, Jared uses new methods to work on old problems of corruption and inequality. Jared aims to promote the adoption of computational techniques within the social sciences, and advance their use for tacking social problems.
